Show Your Support for our Sailors in Tokyo
Published Fri 16 Jul 2021
The long-awaited Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are finally within arm’s reach, and in an abnormal spectator-free games it is more important than ever to show your support for our athletes. With thirteen sailors ready to hit the water in Tokyo, the Australian Olympic sailors want their fans to make a splash virtually with messages of support.
Share your message of support on social media using the hashtag #GoAusSailors. We will be printing the best messages and posting them around the athletes’ base in Enoshima each day for the athletes to read. Maybe you’ve met one of our Tokyo sailors and have a direct message for them? Or perhaps you’d like to send a message to the whole team?
We will also be selecting the two messages at the end of the Games to win a signed rashie or a framed photo of our Tokyo Olympians.

All thirteen athletes have different journeys and there are some incredible stories behind their campaigns to the Tokyo Games. Perhaps you’d like to reach out to some of our Olympic debutants; Will and Sam in the 49er or Nia and Monique in the 470. Mara Stransky grew up on a boat and will be sailing the Laser Radial in Enoshima. Maybe you’d like to send a message to some of our sailors who are campaigning to back up their Olympic medal-winning performances; such as Mat Belcher and Will Ryan in the Men’s 470 or Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin in the Nacra 17. Sailing the Finn, Jake Lilley is headed to his second games and would love your support. Send a message to Jaime Ryan and her skipper Tess Lloyd who has an incredible story about recovering from head-injury. You can find out more about our athletes here.
Show us your green and gold spirit! You may even like to use the #GoAusSailors frame which can be found here.
