Australian Sailing’s National Performance Pathways team has secured a major coup in attaining the services of Haylee Outteridge to lead the New South Wales performance pathways program.

Haylee is an internationally recognised sailor and coach, having been a member the Australian Sailing Team from 2018-2020 and a coach of the Australian Sailing Youth Team since 2018. In 2018 she finished second at the Nacra 17 World Championships with Skipper and brother Nathan Outteridge.

“Performance Pathways is an important space in Australian Sailing, centered around identifying, supporting and enabling sailors who are in the developing phase of their Olympic journey,” said Outteridge.

“I have experienced the value of our partnership with NSWIS firsthand, and programs like Australian Sailing Futures are crucial in supporting the development of emerging sailors as they strive to reach their potential on and off the water. I am really excited to collaborate with a team of people who are committed to development, performance and seeing our sport thrive.”

Outteridge will be working to identify and develop a pool of young athletes in NSW capable of delivering repeatable success at the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games. She will lead the state program designed to ensure there is a clear path for those identified with potential to optimise their development in collaboration with our partners NSWIS.

“We are delighted to have secured Haylee to fill this crucial role,” said Australian Sailing performance Pathways Manager Ken Lynch.

“We are building a great team in the performance pathways area. They are authentic in their desire to see young Australian sailors develop and progress through the pathway and committed to seeing that happen. Haylee’s understanding of this, willingness to collaborate and commitment to holistic development is integral to progress and repeatable success becoming a reality.”

Outteridge has commenced her role with Australian Sailing and is looking forward to diving into the role in 2023.
