The Australian Sailing Team (AST) is pleased to announce the appointment of Haylee Outteridge as its new High Performance Pathways Manager. Outteridge brings a wealth of experience in high-performance sailing, both as an elite athlete and as a leader in athlete development.
A highly accomplished sailor, Outteridge has competed internationally across multiple disciplines, including the 49erFX and Nacra 17 classes. She has represented Australia at numerous World Championships, achieving podium finishes. Beyond her success on the water, she has built a strong reputation as a respected coach and mentor. Most recently, she served as the State Performance Pathways Manager for the NSW Institute of Sport Sailing Program, playing a key role in developing young talent and guiding sailors toward international competition.

“I’m incredibly proud to be part of the Australian sailing community and, in particular, the Australian Sailing Team,” said Outteridge. “As a former AST athlete, it’s exciting to contribute to the team’s success, especially as we look ahead to a home Olympic Games at Brisbane 2032.”
Outteridge understands the demands of progressing from youth sailing to international competition. “I’ve experienced the privilege of growing up sailing and racing in Australia, which has provided amazing opportunities to develop as a person, sailor, and athlete,” she said. “The pathway from youth sailing to international racing and Olympic campaigning is not an easy or straightforward journey and requires a lot of commitment, however with the right mindset and support it can be an incredibly fulfilling experience.”
She also highlighted the expertise within the Performance Pathways coaching team, stating, “Our coaching team has a wealth of knowledge and experience in navigating this process and is passionate about supporting emerging talent across Australia in pursuit of their Olympic aspirations.”

Outteridge’s successful transition from World Championships medallist to high performance system leader demonstrates Australian Sailing’s dedication and alignment to the Australian high performance sport system’s Win Well Pledge. As a signatory to the Win Well Pledge the AST is committed to recognising and upholding wellbeing as the foundation of sustainable and repeatable success both on and off the water.
Australian Sailing Team High Performance Director, Iain Brambell, expressed confidence in Outteridge’s ability to lead the program. “I am thrilled to confirm Haylee’s appointment into this key leadership role within the high performance program. Following the successful implementation of the Performance Pathways program over the past Olympic cycle, Haylee is well-positioned to drive its continued evolution,” Brambell said.
“Haylee brings a wealth of understanding of multiple Olympic double-handed classes, in addition to her proven leadership experience, which makes her the ideal candidate to guide our performance pathways program into LA 2028 and beyond. I look forward to working alongside her as the newest member of our high performance program’s management team as we build on the longstanding successes of the AST.”
With Outteridge at the helm, the AST is committed to further enhancing its Performance Pathways program, ensuring young sailors have the resources, guidance, and support they need to excel on the world stage. As the team looks toward Brisbane 2032, her expertise will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of elite Australian sailors.
