A determined win in the Medal Race has earned Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin a top five finish at the 49er/FX/Nacra 17 European Championships at Gdynia, Poland.

In 8-11 knot breeze, the Australians left some of their best racing for last to leapfrog two British crews who had been ahead of them heading into the double points last race.

Fellow Aussies Nathan Outteridge and Haylee Outteridge finished 10^th in the Medal Race and 7^th overall.

In the 49er, Will Phillips and Iain Jensen were the top Australian crew, finishing 14^th overall, four places ahead of David Gilmour and Joel Turner. Outcomes were similar for the 49erFX contingent.

The Australian Sailing Team and Squad will now focus on the biggest event outside the Olympic Games, the World Championships at Aarhus, Denmark, which starts early next month.
