Belcher And Ryan Enter Worlds In Stunning Form
Published Mon 30 Jul 2018
Reigning World Champions Mat Belcher and Will Ryan have taken a different tack this Olympic campaign, spending less time on the road. But that hasn’t dampened their performances.
The Rio silver medallists – who have formed a good working relationship with Japan’s 470 squad - enter the 2018 World Championships having won gold at Palma, the World Cup Final and Kiel Week all this year.
“We’re a lot more focused on domestic-based training, trying to build a good squad environment and for us to have a bit more time to do that development and some of those other areas that we just didn’t get a chance to do before,” Belcher says.
“So far so good. We’re pretty happy with where we’re at, coming in to these Worlds as defending World Champions, we’re in good shape and looking forward to starting racing.”
