Provisional Australian Youth Sailing Team member Mina Ferguson is the highest placed Aussie in 14th overall after only one race was completed per fleet due to light winds on day two of the Laser Radial Worlds at Sandringham Yacht Club.
Mara Stansky has finished the first day of the Laser Radial Worlds in a top ten spot. Â The conditions were difficult today for the sailors and race officers with shifty lights winds swinging South to South East at 8 to 15 knots. Â Only one race was completed per fleet as race management struggled to set the course. Â Blue Fleet had their race abandoned at the first top mark after a dramatic shift on the line.
Matt Wearn has won a Silver Medal at the 2020 Laser Men’s Standard World Championships at Sandringham Yacht Club today. This is the Tokyo-bound athlete’s third World Championship silver, to go with the results collected in Aarhus in 2018 and Sakaiminiati in 2019. The final day of racing proved tough for the Australian Sailing Team and Squad athletes, with three races in an Easterly 18 to 22 knots.
Aussies have dominated the podium at the Nacra 17 World Championships, with the brother and sister duo of Nathan and Haylee Outteridge claiming silver, and cousins Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin, the bronze.
