Published Fri 12 Jul 2024

Paris 2024 is now only two weeks away, and Australian Sailing is proud to continue introducing the Australian Sailing Team members representing our nation at the Games.

Joining Rhiannan Brown in the Nacra 17 in Marseille is Brin Liddell, another sailor from New South Wales making his Olympic debut in Paris.

We caught up with the Brin ahead of the Olympic Games.

What do you love about Sailing?
Sailing is amazing because it can take you all around the world. Rhiannan and I have been to so many amazing places with our boat which is such a bonus cause I love travelling.

What do you love about the Nacra?
I love the freedom of the boat. I also really enjoy that we’re foiling, so we’re out of the water and really flying around.

Do you remember your first sailing experience?
I do, I was about eight years old and went out in a boat with another kid and their parent. I think I was a bit scared but I guess I got over that because now I absolutely love it!

Why would you recommend sailing?
Sailing is a great sport, it can take you all around the world. It also allows you to meet so many people and create some really great friendships.

If there are any kids or adults that want to get involved I would definitely recommend just going down to your local sailing club - they’ll be sure to help you out from there.

Where is your favourite place to sail?
Overseas I’d definitely say Lake Como. It was the food and the beautiful water there that really did it for me. Back at home I’d say Lake Macquarie.
